National Aphasia Association

US-based, nonprofit organization for people with aphasia and their families. The site includes fact sheets on aphasia, community resources, support group information, and current news about aphasia. The NAA sponsors a bi-yearly conference for individuals with aphasia, family members and health professionals called "Speaking Out".

National Family Caregivers Association

A support resource for family caregivers. Includes information on caring for yourself as a caregiver, and also resources for finding respite care and information on topics specific to caring for a loved one.

National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders

Information on aphasia, including communication disorders that may result and strategies for communicating with someone with aphasia.

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke

User-friendly site provides information on stroke prevention, outcomes, and treatment options, as well as FAQ and links to more complex information.

National Stroke Association

Information for stroke survivors and their caregivers about some of the symptoms that may be associated with stroke, including communication problems and Recovery Fact Sheets that can be downloaded and give information about the possible physical, mental, and emotional results of stroke written in language that is easy to understand. It also includes a list of resources and organizations with phone number and websites. Includes a link to subscribe to the free StrokeSmart magazine for stroke survivors.

Stroke Network

A website that stroke survivors or their family members may join and gain access to online support groups, message boards, and information about stroke and recovery. It is free to register with the website, and registration provides access to a wide range of message boards.

Stroke Survivors Ottawa

Provides help to stroke survivors and families. Includes definitions and tips. The site focuses on aphasia as well as all aspects of stroke recovery.
